Overview
A mobile hotspot acts as a wireless access point and creates a WiFi network that can connect to any Wifi compatible device. This service is usually provided by cell phone companies as a small device.
Mobile Hotspot Interface
All mobile hotspots will have a different interface based on carrier and when it was manufactured. In this page, we will be using the latest MiFi hotspot from Verizon. This device has an on-off button, SIM card slot, and a charging port.
The hotspot interface will show all the information needed, including:
- If WiFi is currently enabled
- Number of devices connected to the hotspots WiFi network
- Wi-Fi Name/Password
- Data plan limit and cycle information
- Cell Service Data Connection level
- Battery Percentage
- Menu - More device specific information and options
How to Get Mobile Hotspot WiFi Network Information
Locate the Wi-Fi Name/Password button and tap on it. This is normally located on the default home page of the hotspot, but it may be under the More Options or Menu buttons. This information is different for every hotspot.
There will now be the WiFi network name, and WiFi password on the screen. Verify connecting to the correct hotspot by looking for and referencing this WiFi network name listed.
When attempting to connect to the Mobile Hotspot, the WiFi network password listed here will be required. Make sure to use capital letters when they appear, and be careful of similar looking characters like the number ZERO and the letter O. This password should not change, but if password issues are happening, verify it is the correct one on the device.
How to Connect to the Mobile Hotspot Wifi Network
Connecting to the Mobile Hotspot Wifi network is just the same as any WiFi network! When the Mobile Hotspot is on, and the WiFi network is enabled, you will see the WiFi name show up when looking at the list of nearby WiFi networks the device can connect to. Click connect, enter the password on the hotspot, and it's connected!
Connecting on a Windows 10 Device
Navigate to and click on the WiFi icon in the bottom right on the taskbar, near the time and date.
- Find the Mobile Hotspot Wifi name in the list of networks and click on it. Then click connect.
- Enter the Mobile Hotspot WiFi password when prompted and click connect.
- WiFi should now be connected to the Hotspot!
Connecting on a Mac Device
Navigate to and click on the WiFi icon in the top right on the taskbar, near the time and date.
- Find the Mobile Hotspot Wifi name in the list of networks and click on it. Then click connect.
- Enter the Mobile Hotspot WiFi password when prompted and click connect.
- WiFi should now be connected!
Connecting on a Chrome Device
Navigate to and click on the WiFi icon in the bottom right on the taskbar, near the time and date.
- Click on the WiFi icon or area in the popup window,
- Find the Mobile Hotspot Wifi name in the list of networks and click on it.
- Enter the Mobile Hotspot WiFi password when prompted and click connect.
- WiFi should now be connected!
Connecting on a iOS Mobile Device / Tablet
- Navigate to settings on your device.
The easiest way to find it is to navigate to the search bar (swipe all the way to the left) and search for it.
- Find the WiFi section in the list, and tap on it.
- Find the Mobile Hotspot Wifi name in the list of networks and click on it.
- Enter the Mobile Hotspot WiFi password when prompted and click connect.
- WiFi should now be connected!
Connecting on an Android Mobile Device / Tablet
Most Android devices have a different organization to their menus, but the following instructions should be universal to all Android Mobile Devices / Tablets.
- Navigate to settings on your device.
The easiest way to find it to navigate to the search bar and search for it.
- Find the WiFi section in the list, and tap on it. In this case, navigate under then to WiFi.
- Find the Mobile Hotspot Wifi name in the list of networks and click on it.
- Enter the Mobile Hotspot WiFi password when prompted and click connect.
- WiFi should now be connected!
