Overview

Google Meet is used by people to hold video conferences and meetings. It's features include the following:

  • Up to 100 members per call for G Suite Basic users, up to 150 for G Suite Business users, and up to 250 for G Suite Enterprise users
  • Ability to join meetings from the web or through the Android or iOS app
  • Ability to call into meetings with a dial-in number
  • Password-protected dial-in numbers for G Suite Enterprise edition users
  • Integration with Google Calendar for one-click meeting calls
  • Screen-sharing to present documents, spreadsheets, or presentations
  • Encrypted calls between all users
  • Real-time, AI-generated closed captioning

Requirements


A G Suite administrator needs to turn on Meet for your organization. You will see the Google Meet icon (shown right) in your Google Apps

menu. If you cannot open Google Meet, contact the User Account Management Team for review.

  • To create a video meeting, you need to be signed in to a G Suite account.
  • To join a video meeting, you need the Meet mobile app or a supported web browser (Chrome Web Browser for most PCs). You do not need a G Suite account.
Note

Anyone inside or outside of your organization can join by selecting the link URL in their chrome browser or entering the meeting ID. Uninvited guests outside of your organization must be approved by a meeting participant in your organization, including users who aren’t signed in to a G Suite District E-Mail account.


Install Information

Chrome Browser does not require additional installations. However You may need to "Allow" Google Meet to use your camera and microphone.  

  • Make sure your computer Microphone is on.
  • When opening the app and joining or starting a meeting  you may see prompts such as in the following image. 
    • Select "Allow" Google meet to access Microphone. 
    • Select "Allow" Google Meet to access your Camera.

If your browser doesn't support Meet video meetings, you can dial into the meeting using the phone number and PIN, if provided by the meeting organizer. Let your organizer know if your are unable to join the video meeting the traditional way. Ask them to setup the meeting to allow call in.

Allow microphone and camera access

If your computer has a web camera and a microphone available for use, perform the following to allow them to be used by Google Chrome for Google Meet.

  • When opening the app and joining or starting a meeting  you may see prompts such as in the following image. 
    • Select "Allow" Google meet to access Microphone. 
    • Select "Allow" Google Meet to access your Camera.
