Overview

Clever is a secure pipeline between your district's data and the learning applications that you and your students use. They help IT provide applications with all the information they need to be seamlessly set up for your school to use.

Clever single sign-on (SSO) allows users to log into applications with a single set of credentials, configured at the district level. With the ease of only one username and password, Clever can help teachers reclaim valuable class time. Students and teachers can open their devices, sign into the Clever Portal, and click on their connected applications to automatically access the online learning program!

Logging In

All staff and students from every district can log into Clever directly from their website:

  1. Navigate to https://clever.com/
  2. In the top right, hover over the "Login" button and select your role from the dropdown
  3. Follow the directions below for the way you are attempting to login

Logging In With Google

Clever makes logging in very easy by being able to log in with your Google account!

  1. From the initial login page, search for your school building. If you can not find your specific school building in the search, your district may use a general building that is the name of the school district. If so, you can select and use that general school district name.
  2. Click the "Login with Google Button"

Logging In With Clever Badge

Staff may give younger students a Clever Badge which contains a QR code that can be read and used as a login. This REQUIRES a webcam or camera of some sort connected to the device you are attempting to log into Clever with.

  1. From the initial login page, select "Clever Badge Login" on the right hand side.
  2. Allows access to your webcam via popup.
  3. Put the Clever Badge QR code in front of the camera so it can be read, then click Login.

Troubleshooting

Clever has created some of their own troubleshooting resources, which can be found here: Clever Troubleshooting Resources

District Specific Information

Pontiac

Internal Clever related questions or issues should be addressed to the Curriculum Department at Administration.

Southfield

Technical Information

Clever syncs with MISTAR every night, so as soon as a student enrolls, it just needs one/two midnights to be synced to Clever.

Staff Information

Clever has the ability to automatically make rosters so you don't have to upload student information for every website.  It doesn't work for all websites but so far we have it auto-rostering Study Island, Exact Path, Reading Eggs, Khan Academy, typing.com, SpringBoard, and NWEA MAP (more to come on MAP).

If there is a website you use consistently, you can add it yourself or email Stephanie Hebden Melanie Hemmert at Melanie.Hemmert@oakland.k12.mi.us

Here are some screenshots of clever to get you started. Kindergarten and first grade teachers, be sure to check out slides 8-10 to print your badges.

Parent/Student Information

Students will have Clever as their home page when they log into their Chromebook or Google Chrome account.

Kindergarten and first graders use badges to get in.  What this means is we have turned the chromebooks into kiosk mode for K and 1st grade carts ONLY.  When the computer turns on, they see their school name followed by "first grade" with an arrow underneath.  There are other options on this first screen so other students are still able to log in with their email and password and NWEA is still available on this first screen under "apps."

The kids click the arrow on the first two screens, and then clever loads automatically.  The kids click on the QR code picture, then the computer asks to allow the camera, the kids click allow and hold their badge(QR code) up to the camera.  They are automatically logged into clever from here.

Within Clever they can access all their apps that their teacher have added. Many of these apps auto-roster from MISTAR which is convenient for teachers, however there are still some that don't auto-roster but will save the password for the website after the student types it in the first time.
